If you’ve never worn hair extensions of any variety before, then it’s likely that you’ve found yourself wondering at some point or another whether there are any noteworthy differences between lace front wigs and full lace wigs. While it might seem like a bit of a trivial matter for those who are perfectly satisfied with their hair as it is now, people in the market for hair extensions would do well to understand the distinction. While they mainly differ in one basic respect, this does a lot to change the way in which they’re best taken care of. They’re simply two different things that happen to fall under the same basic category.

The main difference between lace front and full lace wigs is that the former doesn’t cover the entirety of the scalp. Rather, lace front wigs are affixed to the front of the head by means of hair glue or a special adhesive strip. These kinds of hair extensions are either placed right at the hairline or where the hairline should ideally be located. Lace front wigs have the advantage of allowing women to spice up their style without having to go to the trouble of visiting a salon, but they come with a couple drawbacks as well. These aren’t necessarily major disadvantages, but depending on the circumstances, they might be enough to convince you to pick a different kind of wig.

If you want to extensively style your hair, then a lace front isn’t for you. In general, lace front wigs can only be worn in the style that they were manufactured in. Attempting to alter them in any way can often have adverse effects. Because of this, they aren’t a great option for women who like to be very creative with their hair and are best left to those who just require a quick way of accentuating and improving the hairdo they already have.
By contrast, full lace wigs are made in such a way that they cover all of the head. They attach to the scalp in the same way that lace front wigs do, but they’re slightly more complex in design and are better suited for women who want a little more control over the way their hair looks. Unlike lace front wigs, full lace wigs can be styled in just about any way imaginable.

Again, whether you should go with a lace front or full lace wig will depend entirely on your needs. Assess your requirements so that you can make an informed decision regarding the hair extensions you choose to buy.
