There are a lot of advantages to being able to write in a big visible location. It makes it easier to keep track of ideas or even simple acts of communication. There are a few ways to put a message up on the wall. One is to use tape and a simple piece of paper. Another option is to hang a chalk board, or white board, the final option is dry erase wall covering. Each has some advantages, and disadvantages for the task.

Chalk boards are heavy, they stick out, and they break easily if dropped. Chalk can break as well from a strong grip alone. On the other hand, chalk is criminally cheap and breaking it won’t make a big impact on your budget. Chalk also doesn’t write very well on the boards and creates uneven lines. Chalk boards can be difficult to have with children because they’re likely to accidentally knock the board loose and cause it to fall.

Whiteboards don’t break if they fall and are lighter than chalkboards. They also let you use dry erase markers, which are more expensive than chalk, but write better and allow more freedom for the writer. They come in a wide array of different colors which easily stand out from each other. Chalk on the other hand tends to be: white, pinkish, yellowish, and bluish. The colors lack clear definition, whereas whiteboard markers are bright and clearly distinguishable from each other.

Dry erase wall covering is any means to turn the wall itself into a dry erase board like the white board. This means you can use the markers that white board markers use. They are also very large, and this is a virtue. If you’re someone who truly loves to write on the walls then being able to put the message in big bold letters. The downside to dry erase wall covering is that it gets rather expensive at the upper end and for larger amounts. The trade off to this is that compared to the hanging boards it can simply disappear when not in use.

Dry erase wall covering is best for someone who wants to be able to write a lot and leave it visible easily. The boards are best for people who only want to write short messages. So if the most you want to write on the walls is something like “Buy Milk” then a board is ample. If you want to be able to put ideas, messages and complex complete thoughts, you’re going to want the space offered by dry erase wall coverings.
