One of the more popular New Zealand travel destinations is Queenstown, which among many other amenities, features the Skyline Queenstown, a gondola that takes passengers up a steep incline about 450 meters above Lake Wakatipu to the height of Bob’s Peak. The view is immeasurably spectacular and worthy of the ride.

At Bob’s Peak, there is a restaurant for those who find that the journey has stirred up an appetite. There is also a café and a gift shop. Nearby, a luge racing sled awaits the athletically-inclined. Chairlifts up the steep incline are available, as well for those who seek greater heights. A Maori performance awaits everyone as part of the ticket price back down at the bottom to round out the experience.

Another cable car ride is available for biking enthusiasts at the Queenstown Bike Park, which includes numerous bike trails for the New Zealand travel adventurer who wants to try everything at least once. The gondola sweeps you up the incline, and then you are free to choose from various trails that will carry you back down – ranging from beginner trails to more dangerous and challenging bike paths for experienced riders who know how to handle their equipment with professional ease.

Family members who would rather not exert themselves too much, and prefer their New Zealand travel adventure to be more of a spectator sport, may find recourse in the Kiwi and Birdlife Park. Not far from the base of the Skyline gondola, Grandma and other interested travelers, including young scientists, may bypass the lift to Bob’s Peak and choose instead to investigate the lives of birds and their close relative, reptiles, in greater detail. Featured are rare species of birds that are not found anywhere else.

Queenstown itself offers many opportunities to wander and breathe in the atmosphere, picnic in the park, or visit the Arts and Crafts Market at Earnslaw Park. Nearby is a mining center, an old steamer passenger ship that runs on coal, a variety of local artists available to meet and appreciate, and depending on the time of year you visit, a natural environment of pristine beauty that is simply breathtaking. There is plenty to see, do, and enjoy nearly all year round in Queenstown, New Zealand. Travel packages are available that provide highlights of various attractions, events, and not-to-be-missed activities which make it well worth the trip.
